The King's Road
Come wander along the old King's Road in the footsteps of some of our country's most interesting characters, while experiencing a visual timeline of Savannah's grand scale architecture and storied history, beginning in 1733 when the colony was founded, witnessing revolutions, evolutions, executions, and exaltations.
The tour begins overlooking the Savannah River where the frigate Anne landed with General James Oglethorpe and the original 120 colonists. From that location, we head south down the King's Road, passing through beautiful Johnson, Wright, Chippewa, and Madison Squares observing monuments and architecture along the way.
We will end the tour just south of Madison Square at the intersection of Jones Street and Bull Street. If you decide you want to finish the tour off with the best traditional southern food experience in Savannah, you have the option to join us for lunch at the famous Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room.
Tour Details:
- We operate outdoors in the Historic District in Savannah Georgia. We will utilize the public pathways through the city, and it is as Wheelchair friendly as Savannah can be
- This tour was developed by the owner who moved to Savannah in the Fall of 2000 to study architecture, finished school, and never left the city working in design, construction, and real estate. He wrote his Architectural Master's thesis on this beautiful city, and loves to share it with all of you.
- The King's Road is a 2+ hour daytime guided architectural walking tour that is roughly 1 mile long
- After the tour concludes, you have the option go to eat lunch at Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room. The meal is not part of the tour. We go eat there, and you are invited. This is a family style dining room. There is no menu. The table is entirely covered with food, and every dish is something different. It is open Monday through Friday, lunch only, cash only, first come first serve, and closes at 2pm. Your meal is not included in the price of the tour. You must request this option at the time of booking. There are only 10 seats per day

Pro Tips:
- It can be really hot, so be prepared. A good Savannah-Go-Bag includes umbrella, shade hat, sunscreen, fan, water, and a coozie. With these items, you can never go wrong in Savannah
